I realize that I am your trusted resource when it comes to healthy cooking and eating. I have never claimed to be your trusted resource when it comes to physical fitness though.
I do go to the gym usually 5 times a week or so. I have a personal trainer that I work out with once a week. We mostly do circuit training for 30 minutes and I get a pretty good workout in, I mean I’m sweating pretty good and my muscles are usually kind of sore the next day.
Who doesn’t love fish sticks? Turns out today is national almond day which really isn’t all that impressive considering tomorrow is National Indian Ice Cream Day (though I do love Indian ice cream).
So, I searched my computer for any almond recipes that I have created and found this little gem. I am going to make it for dinner tonight so I’ll either replace the fish stick illustration with a picture or shoot a video of me making it?
At a party, a happy hour or a night by the fireplace, a drink is such a natural accompaniment that sometimes we forget about the calories we’re consuming. Big mistake: Calories from alcohol add up quickly. Our bodies don’t register liquids in terms of fullness, so the reason you gain weight from alcohol is that you don’t compensate by eating less later. You still eat the same amount, regardless of whether you had the drink.
Remember this too: Even though the screwdriver you order at brunch has vodka and orange juice, mixed drinks provide little to no nutritional value – only calories. Alcohol is not an essential nutrient, it has a diuretic effect on the body. Even if you mix it with orange or cranberry juice, you are more likely to flush the nutrients out of your system.
